Growing
up as the youngest of 5 kids Sam was exposed to a wide variety
of music through his parents and siblings. From Led Zeppelin
& Jimi Henderick to early Genesis & Yes to Earth,
Wind, and Fire to Miles Davis to Tony Bennett to the Grateful
Dead. At age 12 Sam discovered and fell in love with the Beatles.
No doubt they were a huge influence of his love of melodies
and harmonies.
Sam
started playing guitar at the age of 14, but didn't start
singing until a trip to India in 1994, where he had a profound
spiritual awakening. Since that opening, he has been writing
and singing his songs that celebrate love and stillness. His
music has been described as music that goes straight to the
heart. He is inspired to create events that are in support
to the opening of the heart and mind as deeply as possible.
He has preformed concerts throughout the US, Japan, Canada
and India.
After
returning from India, Sam starting singing in the group Passenger,
which performed his original songs. In 1998, Passenger releases
a self titled CD. In 2002, Sam released his first solo CD
titled “True Heart”, which captures the joy of
living a life devoted to love and peace. His 3rd CD, “Always
Home” (2006), continued to draw the listener into the
heart of love and stillness. In 2009 he released his "Let
Love Reign" CD. This CD started to incorporate new territory
with multiple interweaving vocals, as well as more free form
Eastern influenced pieces.
Also
in 2009, Sam discovered his singing partner, Barbara Juniper.
They knew from the first time they sang together that there
was something special in the way their voices blended, coming
together so tightly that it's hard not to hear it as one voice.
They have been doing concerts together ever since.
